Bloggers, Columnists, Op-Ed's OH MY!
(Wikipedia) "The relationship between bloggers and journalists is complicated. On one hand, journalists feel intimidated by bloggers’ ability to rapidly cover new material; on the other, journalists are dismissive of bloggers’ lack of code with respect to neutrality and checking of sources. In general only one-third of bloggers think their blog is a form of journalism." A columnist is a "journalist who writes for publication in a series, creating copy that can sometimes be strongly opinionated. Columns appear in newspapers, magazines and other publications, including blogs on the Internet." An op-ed, "abbreviated from opposite the editorial page (though often believed to be abbreviated from opinion-editorial), is a newspaper article that expresses the opinions of a named writer who is usually unaffiliated with the newspaper's editorial board." This forum brings together the best that knowledgeable, intelligent, opinionated females have to offer.

February 2010 Hot Topic - Jamie Leigh Jones vs. Halliburton
On December 19, 2009, the U.S. Senate passed the FY2010 Defense Appropriations Bill, which contained a provision introduced by Sen. Al Franken (D-Minn.) that would ban government funding of defense contractors who forced employees to mandatory binding arbitration in the case of rape, assault, wrongful imprisonment, harassment, and discrimination. The legislation was a direct result of the experience of Jamie Leigh Jones, a 20-yr-old employee of defense contractor KBR (formerly Halliburton) who, while working in Iraq for KBR, was gang raped by her co-workers and locked in a shipping container when she attempted to report the crime. Her father and her local congressman, working together, secured Jamie’s safe return to the United States. Once home, she discovered that her KBR/Halliburton contract forbid her from taking her case to court. She also discovered that she would be forced into an “arbitration” process that would be run by KBR/Halliburton. On May 16, 2007, Jones filed a civil lawsuit against KBR and former parent corporation Halliburton, and Charles Boartz (a "person of interest" in the case). The United States Department of Justice (DOJ) has brought no criminal charges against the alleged assailants. KBR/Halliburton asked the U.S. Supreme Court to reverse this ruling. In its petition—which accuses Jones of being dishonest as well as a publicity seeker.

End Global Gender Apartheid NOW
Gender apartheid is any inhumane act or crime against women and girls "committed in the context of an institutionalized regime of systematic oppression and domination by one gender over another and committed with the intention of maintaining that regime." Gender arpartheid crimes include murder, enslavement, deprivation of physical liberty, forced relocation, sexual violence, and collective persecution. There is power in numbers. That power, combined with education, ever-improving technologies and the untapped potential of social networking, are important tools in the global crusade against gender apartheid. This forum will explore all aspects of the atrocity known as gender apartheid.

Women's Studies
(Wikipedia) “Women's studies is an interdisciplinary academic field devoted to topics concerning women, feminism, gender, and politics. It often includes feminist theory, women's history (e.g. a history of women's suffrage) and social history, women's fiction, women's health, feminist art, feminist psychoanalysis and the feminist and gender studies-influenced practice of most of the humanities and social sciences. Women's studies was first conceived as an academic rubric apart from other departments in the late 1970s, as the second wave of feminism gained political influence in the academy through student and faculty activism. As an academic discipline, it was modeled on the American studies and ethnic studies (such as Afro-American studies) and Chicano Studies programs that had arisen shortly before it. The first Women's Studies Program in the United States was established on May 21, 1970 at San Diego State College (now San Diego State University) after a year of intense organizing of women's consciousness raising groups, rallies, petition circulating, and operating unofficial or experimental classes and presentations before seven committees and assemblies.” This Women’s Studies forum celebrates the important academic work being done on behalf of women and girls globally.

Female Candidates
(Wikipedia) "Women in politics have historically been underrepresented in Western socities compared to men. Many women, however, have been politically elected to be heads of state and government." We are launching this forum, with the understanding that it may transition, one or more times, before settling into a comfortable end result. The goal for this Female Candidates discussion forum, is to eventually be a global resource, for female candidates to speak directly to their constituents and supporters. We will begin by populating the forum with female candidates in the United States. Once a female candidate is introduced by either themselves, someone on their staff or someone in the public, the Womanocracy Administrators will create a separate discussion forum for that candidate. As global candidates are introduced, we will add Female Candidate forums separated into the regions designated by the United Nations World Macro Regions and Components (http://www.un.org/depts/dhl/maplib/worldregions.htm) Please start by posting a message and introducing your candidate of choice, by first selecting "Female Candidates" above. Next, select "The Name Of The Female Candidate......". Next, select "NEWTOPIC", enter your candidate's name in the subject line and place candidate information in the body of the message. Next, select "Submit" or "Preview" if you wish to preview your message. Registration is required, to post messages to Womanocracy. The ONLY personal information we require, is a valid email address. The reason Womanocracy requires an email address to join the community, is so that we can prevent disruptive individuals, from disturbing Womanocracy forum discussions.

Crimes, Disinformation, Controversy And Political Circus Involving Women And Girls
Have you ever wondered why the global war against women and girls is allowed to continue, despite efforts by untold numbers of organizations focused upon stopping that war? Does the global war against women continue unabated because of culture or religion or psychology or testosterone, or a combination ‘cocktail’ that includes all four? Evolving technology provides women with critical ‘tools’ to fight the global war against women. We have barely scratched the surface of what is possible via technology. Disinformation is: "false information deliberately and often covertly spread (as by the planting of rumors) in order to influence public opinion or obscure the truth." Controversy is a state of prolonged public dispute or debate usually concerning a matter of opinion. (Wikipedia) A controversy is usually the result of either ignorance (lack of sufficient true information), misinformation, misunderstandings, half-truths, distortions, bias or prejudice, deliberate lies or fabrications (disinformation), opposed underlying motives or purposes (sometimes masked or hidden), or a combination of these factors. How does cultural, social, political, religious, political disinformation, affect women and girls globally? Are conspiracy theories dangerous to the health and welfare of women and girls? Do political and media circus’s have a positive or a negative impact on women and girls? Discuss these topics and more, in the forums in this category.

Lets Not Forget...
In a world filled with 24 hour news cycles, we often fail to remember such things as who supported, or opposed what, when, why, where, how. Past events, comments, governments, circumstances, people and details matter. Women must remember important allies, opponents and events, so that we might chart a better course for our future. This forum will explore, from a woman's perspective, what went right in the past, for women, and what went wrong. More importantly, what have we learned, what can we do better and what lessons can we share with women and girls, around the globe.

Sex Under The Microscope
Sex is a complex subject for women. It’s time to put the topic under a microscope and examine what’s there, from a female perspective. This forum will consider the subject from many angles that directly impact females. From reproduction, satisfaction, dissatisfaction, dysfunction….to harassment, abuse, assault, slavery and laws, it’s all relevant so long as the discussions remain focused upon how females feel and how they are being affected. Please remember that the principles of respectful civil discourse apply in all Womanocracy forums. Civil discourse is engagement in discourse (discussion) intended to enhance understanding. It neither diminishes the others moral worth, nor questions their good judgment; it avoids hostility, direct antagonism, or excessive persuasion; it requires modesty and an appreciation for the other participant’s experiences.

Pause To Smile And Recycle Humor
Humour or humor (Wikipedia) is the tendency of particular cognitive experiences to provoke laughter and provide amusement. Many theories exist about what humor is and what social function it serves. People of all ages and cultures respond to humor. The majority of people are able to be amused, to laugh or smile at something funny, and thus they are considered to have a "sense of humor." The term derives from the humoral medicine of the ancient Greeks, which stated that a mix of fluids known as humours (Greek: χυμός, chymos, literally juice or sap; metaphorically, flavour) controlled human health and emotion. This forum has been created to encourage everyone, to pause for a moment….and giggle. If you have a humorous tidbit, a viral video or a charming anecdote, post it in this forum.

Bad Boys, Bad Boys... What'cha Gonna Do...
Setting aside for a moment, the millions of wonderful males that inhabit the earth, we dedicate this particular discussion forum to trouble-making males who...well...need some sort of tune-up, or adjustment, or sometimes a complete psychological makeover. Women and girls around the globe, are conditioned from birth, to tolerate poor behavior by males and to often assume responsibility for destructive male behavior and actions. Enough is enough. More often than not, when we watch news video or read articles about disorderly conduct, generic gender terms like "person, people, individual, suspect, angry mob, fans" are used, when in fact, the overwhelming majority of the "people" behaving disorderly in the videos and news reports, are male. Why have we allowed misleading, gender neutral descriptions of "males" who engage in disturbing behavior, pass unnoticed and unchallenged for so long? Don't we encourage destructive behavior, when we do nothing more than turn our heads? FIND YOUR VOICE! If you have a report, a story or a video of boys behaving badly, please share it here.

Trash-Talk
Wikipedia describes Trash-Talk as: "a form of boast or insult commonly heard in competitive situations. It is often used to intimidate the opposition, but can also be used in a humorous spirit. Trash-talk is often characterized by hyperbolic, figurative language. Puns and other wordplay are commonly used." Potty-Mouth behavior is any inappropriate, 'time-out-worthy' words and actions emanating from toddlers, pre-school children and assorted radio talk show hosts and cable news personalities. Womanocracy invites a broad range of differing viewpoints. Sometimes debate between individuals with opposing viewpoints, becomes so spirited, that the discussion crosses over, from appropriate civil discourse to inappropriate mud-slinging and gutter-speak. When this happens, a potentially constructive debate becomes unproductive. Womanocracy administrators will move discussions, deemed to have crossed over into UN-civil discourse, to this Trash-Talk forum.
